What are Humanities Home Learning Projects?
Essentially, they are four pieces of very good news.
1. You will not be set any more History or Geography homeworks :-)
2. You will have several weeks to complete a deep learning inquiry that will expose you to an aspect of life on our planet that is intriguing, challenging and thought provoking
3. You will have a chance to develop the crucial academic skills of research, synthesis, evaluation and communication. These skills will make you a more confident and capable student in all your subjects
4. As these projects will last several weeks, you will have the opportunity to plan and schedule your own time,

How will the projects be structured?
While all the projects will address different issues and require you to produce different outcomes, they will all follow the same core structure:
Phase 1: Getting Organised & Identifying your Issue (setting up your Humanities Home Learning Google Site, watching/reading a stimulus and recording your first thoughts and prior knowledge)
Phase 2: Directed Research & Analysis (using the resources that have been identified for you, research your issue. Record your research into an analysis frame to help you to begin to structure your ideas).
Phase 3: Problem Solving (you will be given a scenario to solve using your research. At this point you will research possible outcomes for your project that will best fit the scenario you have been given).
Phase 4: Communicating (this is where you will produce your project outcome - a creative process).
Phase 5: Reflecting & Connecting (you will reflect on your personal progress through the project and explicitly find connections to your other subjects in school)

How will I be assessed?
You will have the mark scheme from the beginning of each project. You will see that it gives as much weight to the quality of the process that you have followed as it does to the final outcome that you produce. Just like in Mathematics, you must show your working.
